Legionella Monitoring Programme Template for Facilities Teams
A monitoring programme is the routine proof that your written scheme is working. It should be simple enough to complete and detailed enough to identify loss of control.
Typical tasks include hot and cold temperature checks, sentinel outlets, calorifier readings, tank inspections, showerhead cleaning, TMV checks, little-used outlet flushing, and remedial follow-up.
Every task needs a frequency, responsible person, acceptable limit, record format, and corrective action if the result is missed or outside range.
Use trends rather than isolated readings. A single poor temperature matters, but repeated marginal results usually reveal a design, balancing, usage, or maintenance issue.
Review the programme after refurbishments, changes in occupancy, failed samples, new vulnerable users, or repeated missed tasks.
